What Does Mercedes-Benz Oil Change Service Include?

Oil Change

No matter what kind of Mercedes-Benz you drive, regular oil service is required to keep it running at its best. If you’re gearing up to schedule service near San Diego or Del Mar, you should know exactly how comprehensive your Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* really is!  Here’s what we’ll do when you bring your vehicle in to our service center:

  • For Model Years 2009 and Newer: Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* as a component of Mercedes-Benz Service A** or Mercedes-Benz Service B**
  • For Model Years 2008 and Older: Mercedes-Benz oil change service (when not part of Service A/B)
  • For All Models: Oil Filter Replacement* with genuine parts
  • For All Models: Recycling of the old filter

Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil in Mercedes-Benz Vehicles

When you schedule oil service in San Diego with our team, you’ll always receive synthetic oil that’s been approved by the brand. All Mercedes-Benz vehicles are extremely precise machines, and all require synthetic oil as part of their regular service schedules.

Synthetic oil improves upon the formula of regular or standard motor oil with carrying elements and powder additives, increasing oil life and ensuring an optimal distribution of heat. Although all motor oil is refined, synthetic oil goes through an even more intensive process, where it is distilled and modified at the molecular level. When you schedule Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* with the experts, you’ll enjoy:

  • A lower degree of friction, and reduced wear and tear on your engine.
  • A reduction in deposits and residue for a cleaner, more efficient engine.
  • An improvement in dependability and efficiency, especially when extreme heat or cold is working against you.

List of Mercedes-Benz Approved Synthetic Engine Oils

Our Mercedes-Benz service center knows exactly what your vehicle requires, and we carry out all Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement* with recommended motor oil and genuine Mercedes-Benz parts. We recommend that you always bring your vehicle in for Mercedes-Benz Service A or Mercedes-Benz Service B. However, if you drive a model made before 2008, you might be interested in performing Mercedes-Benz oil service at home. If so, you’ll want to consult the following list, along with your owner’s manual, in order to find the motor oil you’ll need:

Choosing the Right Oil for Your Mercedes-Benz in San Diego, CA

Any and all of the synthetic oils listed above will work just fine in your Mercedes-Benz. However, there are important differences between your options. The sequence of numbers and letters associated with every motor oil blend—written XW-XX—breaks down as follows:

  • The first X indicates the motor oil’s viscosity at 0 degrees Fahrenheit. The letter “W” stands for winter.
  • The X’s after the dash indicate the motor oil’s viscosity during summer, when temperatures start to rise.
  • The second two X’s should be read as a double-digit number. If you’re looking at the list of Mercedes-Benz approved synthetic engine oils, you’ll decide between viscosities of thirty, forty, or fifty.
  • The higher the second number, the slower your motor oil will thin out at higher temperatures.

So, when you’re scheduling oil service in San Diego, consider each of the following:

  • If you live in a colder climate, choosing the option with the lowest first number (0W, 5W) is a smart idea. A lower number indicates that your oil won’t thicken up when the weather is cold.
  • If you live in a hotter climate, it’s a good idea to choose the motor oil with the higher second number (40, 50). Motor oil that thins out more quickly (30) won’t protect your engine as effectively when the heat is rising.
